A Congolese national who allegedly stole three shaving machines, hair dryers and LED lamps all valued at Sh125,000 has been charged at a Kibera court.
Chizungu Amani was charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi where he denied the charges.
The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on August 31 at around 1400 hours at Valley Arcade Lavingtone within Dagoreti Sub-County in Nairobi County.
The items the court heard belonged to Maureen Mwende Muthinji who is the complainant in the case.
In court, the accused person lawyer pleaded for leniency and urged the court to release him on favourable bond terms.
The lawyer told the court that the accused person was not a flight risk and was ready to abide by all the court directions.
The prosecution however did not object to his release on bond.
The magistrate directed that the accused person be released on a Sh100,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh75,000 with the surety of the same amount.
It directed that the accused person be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution will rely on for the entire trial.
The matter will be mentioned on September 11 for pre-trials.
