Africa has a date with destiny to counter the climate crisis in the content during the ongoing Climate Summit at the KICC, Environment, Climate Change and Forestry CS Soipan Tuya has said.
Speaking during the second day of the summit, Tuya said the meeting seeks to propose radical solutions that will help solve the climate crisis.
"The world is waiting for something new this week from the fatigue of despair and make history," she said.
The CS said many young people are looking at the leaders to lead them towards a green pathway.
She said there is a climate change story to tell everywhere in Africa and it's through the leaders that Africa will lead green economic growth.
"Although African countries are making efforts to fight climate change, we are indebted and weighed down. Africa poverty keeps dominating despite little emissions," Tuya said.
She said this is the moment for Africa to come up with solutions to tackle the climate crisis.
The forum entered day two, with several heads of state and delegates arriving for the event.
The leaders are expected to hold several discussions on climate financing and how to scale it up at the international level for Africa, investing in nature and biodiversity.
The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres is also present at the event
