The Communications Authority of Kenya has denied any responsibility for the regulation of Worldcoin in the country.
The authority said it learned about its activities through the media.
Director General Ezra Chiloba told the MPs that this is the mandate of the office of the Data Commissioner.
"Our responsibility is tied to communication services and not data," he said.
"We only offer support whenever required that is why we had to apply a collaborative approach among other players on the matter because we realised not all issues are handled by the office of the Data Commissioner."
Chiloba cited the cyber security and cryptocurrency which he said is not the work of the Data Commissioner.
The director general also defended the move to suspend the activities in the country.
"There was a number of issues that we needed to consult especially on the status of data collected from Kenyans," he said.
Chiloba, however, stated that a multi-agency investigation is ongoing noting Forensic analysis of the equipment confiscated is also ongoing.
"We have one orb that was brought to us by the DCI for analysis," he noted.
The report from its analysis, he stated, will be out in the next week.
An orb is a device used to scan people's eyeballs to create a global network of digital IDs.
