Journalist Emmanuel Juma appointed Foreign Affairs head of communication

Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua said Juma brings a wealth of experience in matters relating to media.

Renowned veteran journalist and editor Emmanuel Juma has been appointed as the head of communication in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

CS Alfred Mutua said Juma brings to the ministry a wealth of experience in matters relating to media and has the personality, creativity and drive to enable the ministry to communicate its positions effectively.

"To start with, the Ministry under my leadership will hold regular Press Conferences starting from September to brief the Nation on Foreign and Diaspora matters," Mutua said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said the media sessions, to be named The Foreign Brief, will be presided over either by himself or in his absence, Principal Secretary Korir Singoei in charge of foreign affairs or his Diaspora counterpart Roseline Njogu.

Juma's career in the media industry spans over two decades which started at the national broadcaster  Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.

He later joined the Kenya Television Network where he worked as a reporter before moving to NTV in 2005.

Juma is best remembered for presenting the post-news analysis segment dubbed Bull's Eye which analysed political events with a touch of satire.
