Nominated MP Sabina Chege has said she is ready to take over as Jubilee Party leader after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta exits.

Speaking in Narok on Sunday, Sabina said she is up to the task of taking the Jubilee Party to where it was in terms of parliamentary numbers.

"The constitution is very clear that after six months, he is not supposed to be in any political seat or involve himself in any political issues," Chege said.

"My fellow Jubilee party members and I respect our former leader. I didn't even stand to be elected in Murang'a because I wanted our retired president to go home respectfully.

Chege assured Jubilee members of his readiness to lead them saying Uhuru neglected them.

"Sometimes when a father flees away from home, the mother is left to look after the home. So, I want to tell Jubilee members that I'm ready and the party will continue to evolve."

She said in the next five years, she will make sure the party has more members since most of them have moved to Kenya Kwanza.

"We had 177 members but now we have dropped to 28. We would want by 2027 to have at least 100 Members of Parliament going up," Chege said.

There have been wrangles between Chege and former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, over who will take over the Jubilee Party leadership.

Recently, Kioni claimed that President William Ruto is determined to kill the Jubilee party as he is scared of the achievements of the former ruling party.

"Let me tell you, the big story behind Jubilee. The record that was achieved by Jubilee is one that UDA is so scared of and the only way they think they can deal with it is by erasing Jubilee," Kioni said.

He dared the ruling United Democratic Alliance to try and achieve better than what Jubilee did because they are now in charge of the country.

"Since you are the ones in office, just do better than Jubilee. We agree we didn't do what Kenyans expected, so do better and stop thinking about us throughout," he said.
