Busia will host a two-day Football Kenya Federation Western Zone National Division Two Mini League this weekend.
The competitions will be hosted at Otimong’ Primary School grounds in Teso South subcounty.
FKF Busia Branch chairman Hillary Musundi said preparations for the event have been finalised with two matches on the card on Saturday and one match on Sunday.
Zone 'A' winners Compel FC will take on Zone 'B' runners-up GFE 105 at 10 am on Saturday with Zone 'B' champions Kiminini Combined clashing with Zone 'A' runners-up Bungoma Stars at 1 pm.
Musundi said the winners will meet on Sunday at the same venue, noting that the regional champions will earn an automatic ticket to National Division One League while the runners-up will head for a playoff, where the winner will also secure a chance to the third tier next season.
Compel, who are based at Pan Paper Ilala Stadium, emerged Zone 'A' champions despite being held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Bungoma Stars on the last day of the campaign to end the season with 59 points, one point ahead of runners up Bungoma Stars.
Opet FC from Busia county finished third to miss out on the Mini-League.
It was a remarkable improvement for Compel, which finished in the 2020/2021 season, won by Mayenje Santos of Busia county with Busia Olympics settling for position two.
