Embattled Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni on Wednesday displayed an emotional side as Azimio leaders held a vigil to mourn Kenyans who lost their lives during last week's demonstrations.

As the ceremony was ongoing at the Jaramogi Odinga Foundation centre, Kioni was seen to be overwhelmed by emotions as he broke down during the vigil.

The names of those who were allegedly killed or injured during the protests were displayed.

Interviews with victims, including minors were also played.

Women narrated horrifying accounts.

Clips showing officers clobbering protestors and destroying properties were also shown.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Monday announced that he had suspended the planned protests on Wednesday in place of solidarity parades and vigil for victims of police brutality.

He claimed at least 50 people died and hundreds of others are hospitalised during last week's three days of nationwide street protests after they were shot by police or hired gangs.

Raila called for the protests to pile pressure on the government to lower the cost of living and reduce taxes.

The demonstrations resulted in the destruction of property, looting and deaths of protesters during a violent clash with anti-riot police.
