A man who was arrested with bhang has told a court that the drug gives him some relief after consuming it.

Njoroge Chege was found in possession of  100 grammes of bhang worth Sh2,000 and charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the court for mercy saying he had a strange disease on his private parts for which only smoking bhang gave him relief from the stress of the ailment.

“I have some diseases that affected my private parts. Smoking bhang created some relief for me. I am very sorry and apologetic your honour,” Chege told the court.

He however did not disclose to the court exactly what was ailing him.

Chege asked the court to have mercy on him promising that he was going to change his habits.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on July 22 in Ngara in the Westlands subcounty within Nairobi.

He was accused of contravening the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance act contrary to the law.

The prosecution told the court that the accused person had no previous records of the said offence but called for a tough sentence.

The magistrate directed that he pays a fine of Sh20,000 or serves six months in jail in default.
