Former President Uhuru Kenyatta now wants to know what the government wants from his family.

Speaking on Friday, Uhuru said his silence should not be taken for cowardice.

"The fact that I've been silent doesn't mean I'm scared. What do my mother and children have to do with anything? Kama shida yenu ni mimi. I'm here," he said.

"What are you doing in my son's home?"

Uhuru said he had received a call from his son Jomo that persons claiming to be DCI detectives had arrived at his Karen home.

The son told the former president that they were driving a vehicle registered under Sudanese plates.

"I told him immediately, from my knowledge when the police want to do something, they don't come in foreign number plates, they come with a warrant and they state their case. I told him don't open the gate," he said.

Uhuru said by the time he had arrived at the son's home, the group had already left.

The former President appealed to the government to settle any political scores with him only instead of roping in his close family members.

"My only plea is don't plan against my mother or my children. Plan for me if it is me you want. What do they have to do with anything," he said.

On alleged firearms that the DCI officers are said to be after, Uhuru said:

"How many people in Kenya have licensed weapons even foreigners? Si we followed the procedure. So you withdrew their security so they are not supposed to defend themselves? What more do you want now?" Uhuru asked.
