ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has claimed that there have been attacks on the Azimio signature collection website.

Speaking on Monday during Azimio's press conference in Nairobi, Sifuna said that they have faced more than 1,000 attacks on the website.

"They are crying and saying the signature drive is going nowhere, but they are actively sabotaging the collection of signatures," he said.

"We have had over 1,000 attacks on our website that are being used for collection of signatures."

The SG added that the attackers have cloned the website to confuse Azimio supporters.

On July 11, Azimio leader Raila Odinga launched a public website for the collection of 10 million signatures.

"This is part of the campaign of resistance, the civil disobedience and citizens’ actions that we have decided to pursue to force Ruto and his regime to respect and listen to the people," Raila said.

The move is in a bid to get public support for their aggressive campaign against the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He said the digital platform will complement the manual signature collection process which had  1.2 million signatures by Friday last week.

Raila said the sum total effect of the exercise is to take back the powers delegated to Ruto and his administration for allegedly imposing punitive, unfair and unjust taxes on the people without their consent.
