Governor Barasa reshuffles chief officers in four key ministries

Said the reshuffle will help in effective service delivery to the people of Kakamega.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa on Thursday announced chief officer reshuffles in key ministries in the county.

In a statement, the governor said the reshuffle will help in effective service delivery.

The changes will see Jessica Weku become the Chief officer Fisheries Development, while Mariam Nyongesa will be the new Chief officer, Water and Sanitation Services.

Leah Khasandi will be Chief officer Social Services, Children Services, Gender and Culture, as Vivian Ayuma takes charge of the Education Science and Technology.

"Please accord them the necessary co-operation to deliver in their new assignments," Barasa said.

The reshuffles come barely seven months after they were sworn into office.

In May, Barasa suspended Patrick Butichi, who was the chief officer housing and urban Development.

The governor said Butichi's duties will be performed by Faith Gitira, who was serving as chief officer lands, administration, survey and physical planning. 

In the changes, lands, housing, urban areas and physical planning executive Peninah Mukabane was moved to the water, environment, natural resources and climate change docket in the same capacity.

Chief officer economic planning and investments David Msafiri was moved to lands, administration, survey and physical planning docket formerly held by Gitira in the same capacity.

Finance chief officer Jeophita Mwajuma was added to the budget docket while chief officer budget and ward development CPA Samson Otieno was moved to economic planning and investment.

E-government and communication chief officer Joseph Lutilo was moved to communication in the same capacity, while Chief officer ICT Phanuel Musalia was added the e-government docket.
