A fourth-year student of Moi University has died after an electrocution.
Shelton Ochieng Odhiambo aged 23 died at the residential houses of the main campus.
Police said he had climbed on an avocado tree within the house compound, which was near an electricity wire and in the process, he got electrocuted.
He was rushed to the University health centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Cases of electrocution have been on the rise in the past months and officials blame the trend on illegal power connections.
Elsewhere, two people were electrocuted in separate incidents.
Police said the first incident happened in Ruiru, where a man aged 24 was electrocuted as he tried to warm water and take a shower.
The body of Aston Omusiro was found on the floor of his house as he held a water heater on June 27.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending further probe.
In Langata, Nairobi, one Nicodemus Mulwa, 30, was also electrocuted in his house while he was cooking using an electric burner.
Police who arrived at the scene said the connection of the burner was faulty and is suspected to have caused the electrocution.
The body was moved to the mortuary.
