National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi has insisted that Kenyans are in a state of panic, over want he termed as 'forceful approval of Finance Act.'

According to Wandayi, Raila will listen to the people first before giving directions on the next course of action at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi.

The former Prime Minister is expected to land any time now, from his trip abroad.

A section of Azimio leaders is waiting to receive him at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Wandayi mentioned that the Act has laws that will burden Kenyan taxpayers more.

"Kenyans from all walks of life have got very high expectations. The country is currently in a state of panic following the forceful enactment of the Finance Act, 2023 which has brought punitive taxes that are going to strangulate Kenyans." Wangdayi said.

"Kenyans are expecting when Raila lands in the country, he's going to give the way forward. On our side, we believe that he will not only give direction but will listen to the people first and that's why we are going to Kamukunji grounds to have a conversation with the people of Kenya."

The Azimio side has been opposed to the Finance Act, 2023 since its inception.

However, their Kenya Kwanza counterparts in the National Assembly overpowered them and voted in favour of the Finance Bill.

President William Ruto assented to the bill on Monday, effectively becoming law.

Some of the new taxation laws contained in it will take effect on July 1, 2023.
