The County Government of Narok has said that they will enforce the 12-hour rule for visitors at Maasai Mara National Reserve.
In a statement on Wednesday, they said that the amount charged for entry into the reserve will only accommodate tourists for 12 hours.
"The county treasury wishes to inform all stakeholders that the amount chargeable for entry into Maasai Mara National Reserve is a 12 hours ticket from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm," they said.
The county government noted that the rule was pursuant to the provisions in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the Public Act Management Act 2012.
The taxes imposed on the other hand would be the responsibility of the county treasury to help mobilize resources for funding the budgetary requirement of the county.
Tourists have been urged to follow the regulations to avoid penalties for those who will not comply with the directive.
"Noncompliance with the directive will attract the applicable penalties," they noted.
The notice however stated that the directive would be effective from July 1.
