Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has told off acting Jubilee secretary general Kanini Kega over his withdrawal notice from the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.

He said Kega and his allies who are pro-President William Ruto cannot work with the Kenya Kwanza government while they are members of the opposition outfit.

Kabando said leaders holding positions courtesy of the opposition coalition should step down and be awarded jobs by the ruling United Democratic Alliance.

"This ain't the way you are thinking right now. It simply means all of you holding plum slots courtesy of Azimio sponsorship should resign so that you get new jobs from UDA. You shouldn't be part of the ruling party ranks on the opposition jersey. Pals do the right thing," he said.

Kabando was reacting to a notice by Kega, on Tuesday, seeking withdrawal from Azimio.

Kega said the decision was arrived at, following a National Executive Committee meeting held on June 6.

However, following Kega's notice, the embattled secretary general Jeremiah Kioni led side dismissed Kega's letter as fake.

They insisted that the party is firmly in Azimio and that whoever does not want to associate with Azimio is free to leave.

"Jubilee Party is in Azimio to stay. We kindly request those who feel tired of this cause, to walk away quietly into a party where they will be more comfortable."

Pro-President William Ruto MPs of the party want to work with Kenya Kwanza, while pro-retired President Uhuru Kenyatta party members want to work with the Opposition.

This has brought about leadership wrangles with each faction claiming to have their own leadership.

Court battles have also formed part of the infighting.
