A Parliamentary committee that conducted the vetting has recommended him for appointment.

This is in spite of the petitions that were filed seeking to stop him from ascending to the powerful seat.

At the same time, President William Ruto will on Tuesday launch affordable housing project in Kirinyaga and the opening of Kerugoya General Hospital.

Last month, Kirinyaga County demolished old buildings belonging to the defunct County Council of Kirinyaga to pave the way for the project at Kerugoya town.

State House press secretary Emmanuel Talam confirmed to the Star that the President will be in Kirinyaga.

Court to give directions in EABL, KBL’s contempt case

Justice Hedwig Ong'undi will give directions in the Bia Tosha case that seeks to have directors of EABL and KBL top directors jailed.

They are cited for contempt for disobeying court orders.

The Supreme Court in February this year remitted the case back to the High Court to deal with the contempt of court application.

It also set aside a decision that stopped Bia Tosha from having control of 22 beer distribution routes in Nairobi.

Ruto to lead Igad direct talks with Sudan generals

President William Ruto will lead three other leaders in the Horn of Africa in an attempt to have direct talks with warring Sudanese generals, signalling the most concerted effort yet to resolve the conflict in Sudan.

The decision was reached on Monday after the Ordinary Summit of the regional bloc, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (Igad ), which created a quartet of countries to seek Sudanese peace.

Thieves dig grave of Lord McMillan, ransack his corroded casket

Police are investigating an incident in which unknown people dug the grave of philanthropist Sir William Northrup McMillan and ransacked his rusty casket in Ol Donyo Sabuk, Machakos County.

Officials said the tomb at the peak of the Ol Donyo Sabuk was interfered with on June 12 for an unknown motive.

US warns citizens against traveling to Uganda over anti-gay law

The government of the United States of America has updated its travel advisory for Uganda following the recently enacted anti-LGBTQI+ law. 

In a statement, the US advised its citizens to reconsider travelling to Uganda due to crime, terrorism, and anti-LGBTQI+ legislation.
