Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret has been ranked as one of the best 25 workplaces for employees to grow their careers in Kenya.

The hospital along with Geothermal Development Company are the only public institutions ranked in the list. Safaricom leads other firms that include BAT Kenya, Equity Bank, KCB Group and Standard Chartered Bank.

The ranking was done following a survey by LinkedIn, which is the world's largest professional network on the internet

The LinkedIn Top Companies is a ranking of the 25 best workplaces to grow a career and its backed by unique data measuring different elements of career progression, the organisation said.

The ranked firms are recognised for helping their employees build careers that will set them up for long-term success.

Hospital CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa said the ranking was a testimony of the hospital’s commitment to offer the best working environment for its staff.

The hospital, which is a national referral institution, is the only public sector institution that has religiously signed Collective Bargaining Agreements with unions representing its workers.

It employs more than 3,500 staff and is one of the most sought after employers in the country.

“We are proud of the support we have always received from the national government to ensure we deliver quality services to Kenyans,” Dr Aruasa said.

He said they were set to achieve even greater success with President William Ruto’s commitment to implement Universal Health Care for Kenyans.

CS for Health Susan Wafula visited the hospital recently and termed it as a success story in the health sector that should be emulated by all other health providers and employers.

The Linkedin ranking methodology looks at components like how employees are advancing both within a company and when they leave, how they’re upskilling while employed there, and reveals companies that help set people up to get ahead in their careers.

The most notable factors for which Moi Referral Hospital was recognised include communication and leadership while the most common job title was registered nurse.

Other factors considered in the ranking include attrition and layoffs.

Companies that have laid off 10 per cent or more of their workforce between January 1, 2022 and the list launch, based on public announcements — or that have attrition greater than 10 per cent, based on LinkedIn data — are ineligible to be ranked.

Others companies also ranked among the 25 include Coca Cola, CIC Insurance, Davis and Shirtliff, Co-operative Bank, Total Energies and DHL.
