I'm not scared of impeachment, my conscience is clear – Oduol

The DG said the Siaya people are on his side even when the politicians are against him.

Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has said that as long as his conscience is clear on issues and it's on the people's side, he doesn't care about the consequences. 

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Spice FM, the DG the Siaya people are on his side even when the politicians are against him.

"I’m popular in Siaya because of what I’m advancing. I am unpopular with the leaders but I’m very popular with the masses," he said.

"For the first time, they have somebody who can talk about rot within the administration." 

The Siaya County Assembly on Monday approved an impeachment motion against DG Oduol.

Out of the 42 Siaya MCA, 38 approved the motion. Only one MCA disapproved the motion. The MCAs voted by way of a secret ballot.

Speaker George Okode said the other three MCAs were absent with an apology.

The assembly, however, resolved to establish a special committee on the matter of the intended removal of Oduol from office.

Okode directed that the committee will allow Oduol to be heard and obtain the views of the public.

The speaker directed that the committee will report back with its findings by June 8, 2023.
