Azimio leader Raila Odinga is expected to attend Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's meeting at his expansive Yatta farm.

The Wiper boss has invited key opinion leaders from across the three Ukambani counties for the major gathering with top Azimio guns to attend.

All Ukambani MPs, and MCAs from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni will converge at the farm amid pressure on Kalonzo to declare his 2027 Presidential bid and seek support from Raila.

Ruto files tax returns

President William Ruto will on Friday file his tax returns at the Kenya Revenue Authority headquarters at the Times Towers.

He will then proceed to Embu University for Madaraka Day SMEs, Cooperatives, Trade and Revenue Expo, open a new wing at Embu Level 5 Hospital and at noon, open Winas Sacco at Embu Town.

He will lay a foundation stone for the new market and for the housing programme at Embu town.

Kindiki to appear before senators

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki will today appear before senators to shed light on the progress of investigations into Shakahola deaths in Kilifi County.

Kindiki will before the Ad hoc Committee on the Proliferation of Religious Organisations, which is investigating the deaths.

The meeting will be held in the Senate Chambers, Main Parliament Buildings.

Donkey population in Turkana drops

The number of donkeys has reduced from 800,000 to 400,000 in Turkana, according to a report by the Association of Donkey Owners in Kenya (Adok).

Turkana County accounts for 30 per cent of the country’s donkey population.

The report shows the number of donkeys has decreased from 800,000 in 2016 to the current 400,000.

Unga prices to go up

Maize flour could prices will go up in the coming weeks if MPs approve the Finance Bill 2023, a lobby has warned.

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) said the proposed 10 per cent tax on kraft paper will push the unga prices up.

Kraft liner is a packaging paper that is used to package staple foods, among other products.
