Nandi senator Samson Cherargei now says that the media is still in denial that William Ruto is the President of Kenya.

Speaking while reacting to a headline by a local daily, the senator said Kenyans should ignore such headlines that 'paint the Ruto administration in a bad light.

The senator accused the fourth estate of having fought President Ruto over the past five years.

"Most of the media in this country are still in denial that H.E. Ruto is the president of Kenya. This is after fighting him for the last five years and the great people of Kenya rejected their propaganda plus their sponsors, Azimio-OKA. Ignore such headlines with the contempt it deserves! Waende wasikie vibaya huko kwao!" Cherargei said.

The newspaper had a report on alleged silent infighting within the Kenya Kwanza administration.

It said the infighting is what led to the recent Principal secretaries reshuffle and later the resignation of the Correctional Services PS Esther Ngero.

In his statement, the Nandi senator is strongly disagreeing that there are any silent fights in the top leadership of the country.

During the 2022 campaigns, President Ruto (then DP) on numerous occasions called out the media for being biased in their coverage of the campaigns.

He even threatened to withdraw from the presidential debate, if they continued with their biased coverage.

At one point, his head of campaign communications had advised him to withdraw from the presidential debate.

In a statement on Thursday, UDA Communications head Hussein Mohammed said this was due to media bias.

"We have noted with much concern the repeated and continued bias and propaganda in a section of Kenya’s mainstream media in abuse of statutory," he said.

"Under the current partisan media environment, we have advised our candidate against participating in the presidential debate."
