Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has urged the Kenya Kwanza government to listen to the Hustler Nation.
Speaking on Thursday morning during an interview, the legislator asked the state to hear the cry of Kenyans who are against the introduction of taxes.
"You can ignore me as Sifuna but listen to the hustler nation, they are crying. You have ignored leaders, you have ignored organisations, but listen to hustlers who don't want more taxes," Sifuna said.
The Nairobi Senator emphasised that people are unable to take further deductions from their salaries.
Sifuna also noted that many Kenyans have gone for years without a pay rise and introducing new taxes at the moment would be unrealistic.
The William Ruto-led administration is facing criticism from the opposition as well as the public over the high cost of living.
Opposition chief Raila Odinga has on various occasions told President Ruto that the cost of living needed to be relooked at because, at the moment, people are suffering.
He said Kenyans cannot be taxed to the bone just because of Kenya Kwanza’s internal weaknesses.
In addition, Raila has asked President Ruto to institute far-reaching reforms in his administration to tackle the high cost of living.
