Police on Thursday clashed with supporters of ex-Mungiki leader Maina Njenga outside DCI headquarters.

Njenga had presented himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation headquarters along Kiambu Road.

His supporters arrived at the scene, chanting  'Chairman' as they wanted to see their leader.

'Tunataka Chairman akuje," the crowd shouted.

However, as they approached the DCI gate, the police lobbed tear gas to disperse them.

On Thursday, Njenga presented himself at the Nakuru law courts Wednesday following reports police were looking for him.

He was with his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru when he presented himself in court.

From the court, the former Mungiki leader presented himself to the Nakuru County Directorate of Criminal Investigation offices to record a statement.

It is there that he was told to go to to the DCI headquarters in Nairobi, Thursday.

He had gotten an anticipatory bail on Tuesday stopping police from arresting or detaining him over claims of possession of two guns and 90 rolls of bhang.
