A section of elected leaders from Northern Kenya have announced interest in joining the leading party.

Led by Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo, he said that they will soon be joining the United Democratic Alliance party.

"We are not joining Kenya Kwanza but joining UDA which has you, President William Ruto as its party leader," he said on Sunday.

The Governor explained that elected leaders from Isiolo, Marsabit, and Tana River met and agreed to form a caucus that will lead the process.

"As elected leaders from Isiolo, Tana River and Marsabit counties we met and decided that our leader will be Saku MP Ali Dido Raso who will lead us in that process," Guyo added.

Early this month, political leaders from Isiolo, Marsabit, and Tana River Counties formed a caucus that will champion the interests of locals. 

According to Guyo, the region should rally its support behind President William Ruto and benefit from major development projects.

"The intention of our caucus is to jointly lobby for the interests of the people of our three Counties, especially from the national government," he said.

Governor Guyo, Saku MP Ali Dido Raso, Former Tana River Governor Hussein Dado, Marsabit Senator Mohamed Chute, Isiolo Woman Rep Mumina Bonaya, Tana River Woman Rep Amina Dika, Principal Secretary for Crop Production Kello Harsama, former Moyale MP Qalicha Gufu, former Galole MP Hassan Dukicha were some of the leaders part of the caucus.
