Azimio la Umoja One coalition leader Raila Odinga has penned down a special message as the world marks Mother's day.

On Sunday, Raila celebrated mothers saying that they are the key shapers of generations

"Happy Mother's Day to all of the outstanding mothers out there! Your love, strength, and sacrifices shape generations," he said.

The ODM party leader also wished all mothers blessings as they celebrated the day.

"May your days be filled with blessings and happiness," Raila said.

Other leaders were not left behind as they also took to social media to celebrate mothers.

"HappyMothersDay to all mothers you sustain the world with your tenacity, sacrifices and love keep going," Martha Karua, Narc Kenya party leader.

"May we take this opportunity to celebrate International #MothersDay, honoring the incredible contributions and sacrifices made by mothers across the nation, said Gideon Moi, Kanu party leader.

"The loveliest Masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a Mother. Happy Mother’s Day," Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi Governor.

"Happy Mother's Day to all mums. And to this particular one in heaven, we continue to pray for you and cherish the impact you had in our lives," Samson Cherargei, Nandi Senator.

Mother's Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world.

In the United States and many countries across the world,  Mother's Day 2023 falls on Sunday, May 14.

The modern holiday was first celebrated in 1907, when Anna Jarvis held the first Mother's Day service of worship at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, West Virginia.

The American incarnation of Mother's Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914.
