Female suspect arrested in Machakos for growing bhang

A woman was on Thursday arrested for allegedly growing bhang in Masinga, Machakos County.

The suspect was nabbed in a police swoop after tens of bhang plants were found grown in her husband’s farm at Mchoka Bure village in Ndithini, Masinga subcounty.

Masinga subcounty police commander Ancent Kaloki said the suspect has been placed under custody at Ndithini police station.

Kaloki said 100 bhang plants were confiscated from the farm during the raid and the woman picked for questioning since her husband wasn’t around during the operation.

He said investigations have been launched into the incident and added that the suspect will be arraigned to face relevant charges.

The arrest came a few days after two suspects were arrested for growing bhang in the same county.

Musyimi Ndivo, 39, and Matata Kanyiva, 40, were on April 28 arrested for allegedly growing bhang in Mwala, Machakos County.

The duo was smoked out from their hideout at Manyatta location by officers from Yathui police station while a third suspect, Mutungi Jass, escaped police dragnet during the swoop.

A total of 336 bhang plants weighing 20kgs with an approximate street value of Sh38,000 were confiscated during the raid.
