Kibera senior principal magistrate Phillip Mutua.

A Cyprus national who allegedly touched a woman indecently has been charged in court.

Christais Erotokriton was charged before Kibera senior principal magistrate Phillip Mutua but he denied the charges.

He is accused of touching PQ on February 18 in Parklands Road 39 area intentionally and unlawfully.

Before his release on bond, the prosecution had sought to oppose the accused person to be released on bond on the ground that he had no fixed abode.

The prosecution also told the court that the accused person was a Cyprus national and he would easily temper with key witnesses.

The court heard that the accused person was a tourist and was to stay in Kenya for a three-month holiday and would easily leave before the days elapsed.

The prosecution told the court that the accused person was a flight risk and urged the court not to release him on either bond or cash bail until his case is heard and determined.

The accused person's lawyer however urged the court to grant the accused person a lenient cash bail because he was not a flight risk.

He downplayed the prosecution application and told the court that the accusations were baseless.

The lawyer downplayed the prosecution's reasons for opposing the accused person being released on bond and said that he was not a flight risk.

He was released on Sh200,000 bond with the surety of the same amount.

The magistrate also directed that the accused be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution intended to rely on during the entire trial.

The court also directed that the accused person's passport be deposited in court.

The case will proceed on April 23 where it will give more directions in the case.
