Man stabbed at video shop in Garissa, police hunt for suspect

Police are looking for a watchman over the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man at a video shop in Ifo, Garissa.

Abdullahi Said Mohamed succumbed to stab wounds in the stomach that he sustained following a scuffle with a guard at the facility which was showcasing a football match.

 

According to police, the victim died at the Kenya Red Cross clinic in the area.

Investigations have since shown the deceased was at a video shop in Ifo market with other youths while watching football when an argument arose between him and the watchman.

According to police, the deceased left the video shop and was followed by the watchman who stabbed him using a sword before he escaped.

A postmortem was conducted on the body and later released to the relatives for burial amid the hunt for the suspect who is at large.

There are fears the family of the deceased will seek to revenge if the suspect is not arrested and arraigned.

Police said the hunt for the man is ongoing over the Monday, May 8 incident.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man was killed as he struggled to fight off suspected thugs who wanted to rob him of his mobile phone and cash in Mathare, Nairobi.

Peter Mulwa was in the company of his girlfriend on Tuesday morning at about 5 am when they were confronted by a gang of four.

The gang demanded cash and mobile phones from the victim before first grabbing the gadget and door keys from the woman.

According to police citing the woman, Mulwa tried to fight off the gang prompting one of them to stab him in the collar borne.

The gang then grabbed his mobile phone and escaped on foot.

The victim was rushed to MSF clinic in the area where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said the hunt for the suspects is ongoing.

He added the gang had also been attacking and robbing other pedestrians in the area.

He urged victims of robberies to always cooperate with their attackers.

“Nothing is worth your life. Just cooperate with such thugs for the sake of your life,” he said.
