President William Ruto started a three-day tour of the Rift Valley and Western region to launch projects.

He is expected to inspect the 61.35 km Rivatex - Simat - Lemook - Kapkaren Selia - Kapkatembo - Kapkaren & Kaplemut - Kabiet and St Theresa- Centre Kwanza roads, in Uasin Gishu County.

The road is essentially complete and in use with minimal construction work remaining.

It has helped boost the farming potential in Kapseret, Mosop and Turbo constituencies by enabling faster access to market centres, towns and factories.

The road serves as an alternative link to Uganda Road from Eldoret town and the Eldoret International Airport thus enhancing regional connectivity.

The President will also launch the upgrading to bitumen standard of the 13km Malava - Kimang'eti - Ikoli Road in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County.

The road starts at Malava town, at the junction of Kakamega - Webuye road, traversing through Kuvasali market and Kimang’eti market before terminating at Ikoli centre.

The road, being constructed at the cost of Sh542 million, is currently 50.6% complete, covering a stretch of 6.5km.

Upon completion, the road will support the growth of the economy of the agriculture-rich region of Kakamega by enabling ease of access to markets.

It will also help to access collection centres for agricultural produce including sugarcane, maize, dairy produce and meat, providing access to public institutions and enhance connectivity to existing road networks in the region and beyond.

The President, on Friday, visited Kajiado and Bomet counties to launch road projects.

Ruto opened SOT Technical Training Institute's digital skills laboratory in Bomet.

He also relaunched the tarmacking of the 75-Kilometre Silibwet-Merigi-Kaparuso, Tegat-Chemaner, Mulot-Kapkimolwa-Kembu-Kaparuso and Matecha-Mugoiywet Roads.
