A two-week-old baby is among 11 children rescued from the Shakahola death site.

Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Florence Bore made the revelation on Wednesday after visiting the children.

"One boy is in hospital, one two-week-old infant is with the mother," she said. 

The children have been moved to a safe location.

"The children are currently adjusting to their new home and receiving play therapy," CS Bore said.

She noted that counseling for the affected children will begin next week, Monday.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has declared a 30-day dusk-to-dawn curfew in the Chakama Ranch area.

The government has also deployed more security personnel to comb through the vast Shakahola Forest to rescue any remaining followers of controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie.

"Curfew orders have also been declared and Gazetted within the said area between 1800 hours in the evening until 0600 hours in the morning for 30 days.," Kindiki said on Wednesday.

This means that there shall be no public gatherings, processions, or movement either alone or as a group during the period of curfew in and out of Chakama Ranch.

The only movement which will be allowed according to Kindiki must be permitted, in writing, by the Kilifi county police commander in consultation with the operation commander.
