Muslims in Kitui on Saturday, joined other Muslims across the globe to mark Idd ur-Fitr.
The Muslim faithful had for the past 30 days undergone fasting, and during the period prayed for peace in the country, world and region.
Deputy Chief Kadhi Sukyan Omar confirmed that Friday, April 21, as Idd-ul-Fitr.
Speaking to the media on Thursday evening at Chief Kadhi's office in Upper Hill, Nairobi, Omar cited the sighting of the moon in parts of Mandera and Wajir.
He said the Crescent of Shawwal was spotted in Imanyale and Elwak villages in Mandera.
"Tungependa kuwatangazia waIslamu ya kwamba Ijumaa ni tarehe mosi ya mwezi wa Shawwal," he said during the media briefing.
