Former government pathologist Alex Olumbe is dead

He was appointed chief government pathologist in 1998.

Former Government pathologist Alex Kirasi Olumbe is dead.

His brother Godfrey Indago confirmed that Olumbe had died

"We just received the message from his son that he died two days ago. We don't have much information," he said.

Speaking to the Star on Friday, he said that  Olumbe had been suffering from Colon Cancer since 2010.

However, the family is yet to know the real cause of death.

" As must he had colon cancer, we are waiting for the postmortem result on what caused his death," Indago added.  

He was appointed chief government pathologist in 1998.

Olumbe was born on February 4, 1963, in North Maragoli.

He was the son of Jotham and Fanice (Isanjili) Olumbe.

The former pathologist lives behind a widow and five children.

Olumbe spent his early childhood in Kaloleni estate in Nairobi's Eastlands and went to Pumwani Secondary school.

The late Olumbe got a Diploma in medicine from, the London Society of Apothecaries in 1996.

Still, in the same year, he obtained a Diploma in Forensic Medicine at the Royal College of Pathologists, Australia.

Olumbe at the University of Nairobi obtained his Bachelor of Science in Surgery and Master in Pathology.
