Tragedy struck an Ethiopian refugee family when their two-year-old boy died after he fell off the fourth floor of an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Kab Mihretu was playing on the balcony of Rose Villa Apartment when he fell off to the ground floor on Thursday, April 13 in the afternoon.

 

His mother who was in the house and other tenants rushed out and picked him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He had fallen and landed on his head.

The parents are refugees and were staying in the apartment awaiting relocation, officials said.

Police were informed of the incident and rushed to the scene and later to the hospital where the death was confirmed.

Police say investigations into the tragedy are ongoing.

Such accidents of people falling off high-rise structures have been on the rise in the past months.

At least one incident is reported weekly in the city in a series.

Meanwhile, a two-year-old girl drowned in a bucket half full of water in Ruai, Nairobi.

Police said the girl’s uncle who arrived at the home several minutes later found her in the bucket still with the head immersed in the water.

They tried to apply first aid on her in vain. The family rushed the girl to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say they are investigating the death.
