Ruto appoints Shioso, Munga Nyale to senior police roles

Shioso will take over from Brigadier Vincent Naisho Loonena.

Former Commandant National Police College, Kiganjo Bruno Shioso

President William Ruto has appointed the Commandant of Kenya police college, Kiganjo Bruno Shioso as the Director General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.

This is pursuant to section 17(1) of the Kenya Coast Guard Service Act.

Shioso will serve in the position for a period of four years effective Wednesday, April 12, 2023. 

He will take over Brigadier Vincent Naisho Loonena.

In November 2022, Shioso was re-assigned to the Kiganjo post, taking over Inspector General Japhet Koome.

Prior to that, he was the National Police Service spokesperson.

In additional appointments, Gideon Nyale Munga will replace Shioso as the Commandant, of Kiganjo Police Training Institute.

Nyale's appointment comes days after he was named the new director of operations at the Kenya Police headquarters, Nairobi.

Prior to the April 1, appointment, he was the director of reforms at police headquarters.

He was swapped with Boniface Maingi in the changes announced by Koome, then. 

Eliud Lagat has been named the new commandant of GSU while Ranson Lolimodoni is now the Director of Operations.
