Defence CS Aden Duale now claims that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has been sending allies to talk to President William Ruto.

According to the CS, Uhuru has been asking that his family be left alone.

Speaking on Spice FM, Duale insisted that nobody can guarantee the former head of state that he will be left alone.

He added if any such guarantee will be given, it should also be extended to ordinary Kenyans.

"They have sent emissaries that Kenyatta, the former President, and his family should be left alone. Nobody can guarantee them that. That guarantee if given to them, should also be given to ordinary citizens like me and you," he said on Friday.

Duale accused the former president of being behind the protests by the Azimio coalition.

He said the protests are aimed at bringing Raila into government to do 'biding' for the Kenyatta family

"What is going on is to have a handshake, bring Raila Odinga into government so that he can hold brief and do biding for the Kenyatta family on the crimes committed against the people of Kenya during the last five years," Duale added.

President Ruto's allies have maintained that the Kenyatta family is behind the protests by the Opposition.

Azimio has been holding protests twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays.

The demos have resulted in confrontations between the police and Raila supporters, muggings, and looting.

The Opposition demands a lowering of the cost of living and prices of food, and fuel, as well as inclusion in the recruitment of IEBC Commissioners.

Raila also wants Ruto to resign and hand over power to him.
