Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua has said that Kenyans almost witnessed how demonstrations can be peaceful without use of excessive force by police.
In a statement on Thursday, Mutua said in absence of excessive force by the police demos are completely peaceful.
"When the police don’t show up, or rush the people, the demos are peaceful — completely peaceful," he said.
"Let those who have ears hear and those who have eyes see. In Embakasi South the massive crowds couldn’t be more peaceful. We have officially entered into the Velvet Revolution."
This is after Azimio leader Raila Odinga took the mass action push to Embakasi South in Nairobi.
Raila made a stop at Imara Daima and addressed his supporters saying that the demos will go on until Ruto addresses their demands.
True to Mutua's words Raila convoy seemed peaceful along the Imara Daima area with no water cannons and teargas.
However, police lobbed teargas at Azimio protesters as Raila's convoy made its way into the pipeline.
This will mark Azimio's third anti-government protest since Raila led the first mass action march on March 20, 2023.
On Monday roads in Mathare were barricaded by youths in an attempt to block the police.
The youths threw stones at the police, who were standing at a distance as they threw tear gas in an attempt to disperse the youths.
