Opposition chief Raila Odinga thrilled his supporters at Imara Daima with 'lower cost of living' chants.

While addressing his supporters on Thursday, Raila said the time is ripe for the government to lower the cost of living.

"Lazima garama ya maisha irudi chini, lazima bei ya unga irudi chini, lazima bei ya stima irudi chini," he shouted.

This translates to the cost of living must come down, the cost of unga and electricity must also go down.

It was initially reported that Raila's convoy along Mombasa Road was blocked by police forcing them to divert to Imara Daima.

The Azimio chief was accompanied by Martha Karua, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino among others.

Anti-riot police have been stationed on major roads within Nairobi and along the highways as the demos take place.

Police were also spotted at Jacaranda grounds with water canons which has been hinted as Raila's final destination for his third demo.

By 12 pm, running battles between police and protesters were witnessed in Mathare-Number 10.

Tear gas was lobbed at the protesters who retaliated by pelting stones at police.

The situation was not different in Kibra, Kisumu's CBD and Homa Bay.

Anti-government protesters also torched the United Democratic Alliance party offices in Siaya.

This comes barely two weeks after protesters in Kisumu burnt down UDA offices.
