The legislator said Samburu residents moved and left their lands and schools to pave way for the security operation.

She alleged that the officers who were assigned to the operations have remained idle and not much has been done to avert further crisis.

"Which kind of operation is this that they come here to idle around as we are being attacked," she said.

"If the government does not want to hear the voices of us leaders then they will hear the voices of Kenyans."

Her sentiments come after Kindiki ordered residents living in areas prone to banditry to vacate for a security operation.

Kindiki said security agencies have been undertaking intelligence gathering to establish how bandits are operating.

He said hundreds of heavily armed bandits are hiding in remote and inaccessible areas.

"We have found a way around the bad terrain. Therefore, security agencies will now onwards be taking the war to the bandits. We shall flush them out from their hideouts," the statement read.

"We shall venture and extract them from any forest, cave, gorge, ravine or escarpment within the soil of the Republic of Kenya."

The joint Security Operation dubbed Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift is led by the National Police Service (NPS) with the assistance of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow is the Commander in charge of the operation.

Despite a heavy police presence in the marked areas, armed bandits have continued to attack, kill and rob residents before retreating to caves and forests from where they monitor the public and security personnel as they plan further attacks.

The government has declared the counties of Samburu, Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot and Laikipia as disturbed and dangerous owing to numerous and persistent incidents of violent bandit attacks.

Over 150 people have died in the hands of marauding bandits in the last seven months in the counties, including 20 security personnel.
