An opposition leader Raila Odinga's diehard fan Nuru Okanga has been trending on Twitter for the better part of Thursday.

This is after a Twitter user by the name Godie alleged that he was admitted to a Kayole hospital and would not be discharged over Sh6,350 arrears.

"Raila Odinga's supporter, Nuru Okanga, has been detained in a Kayole hospital for failing to pay a hospital bill amounting to Sh6,350. Nuru is appealing to all Kenyans of goodwill to help him clear the bill," Godie Tweeted.

Godie's tweet received love and hate in equal measures as Kenyans on Twitter were wondering why he couldn't afford the amount yet he has been supporting Raila.

Others called on the ODM leader to support Nuru clear the supposed bill.

In an overturning event, Mumia East MP Peter Salasya, looked for Nuru to confirm if he was indeed admitted to the hospital or not.

In a video shared by the MP, Nuru dismissed the claims saying that netizens are using his name and influence to corn people online.

"Hapana, io ni porojo, kuna watu huko njee wanatafuta pesa kwa jina langu," Nuru stated.

This is loosely translated to; Those are just lies, there are people looking for money using my name.

"Jeshi ako sawa ,I paid him a visit to know whether he is in hospital as reported by some silly bloggers but yote ilikuwa propaganda. #Nuruokanga," Salasya tweeted .
