Police recover 70 goats, 7 heads of cattle in Baringo

Security officers in Baringo have recovered 70 goats and seven heads of cattle.

According to the National Police Service, the animals were stolen by bandits from Kaipokanyiny and Kosile Villages located in Loruk Sub-Location, Baringo North Sub-County.

The Service has lauded residents for their continued support in the fight against banditry and cattle rustling in the area.

Elsewhere in Samburu County, members of the multi-agency security team recovered three illegal firearms including two AK-47 rifles and a Carabine MK-1 in the ongoing Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift.

The Thursday operation also saw the recovery of ammunition from Latakweny village.

NPS has urged any person who may be in possession of an illegal firearm to surrender the same to security agencies.

On March 13, a man in Samburu surrendered a G3 rifle and ammunition.

NPS said the riffle was handed over to the police with the help of the chief.

The police-led operation is being aided by the Kenya Defence Forces and is aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in the North Rift.

The operation is being conducted in six counties of Samburu, Turkana, Baringo, Laikipia, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet.
