In a press statement, Naado said the current challenges require people to change their wayward attitudes and seek God’s guidance in the adjudication of their affairs.

“We are experiencing challenges like insecurity, drought, famine, political animosity and high cost of living and urgent measures need to be done to address them,” Naado said.

He said despite the country having a peaceful election and a calm transition, political temperatures are rising as leaders from both sides continue to amplify political rhetoric that is driving more people into disillusionment.

“Without a doubt, the resultant tension, which is increasing as the days go by, will result in anarchy if lessons from the past are anything to go by,” he said.

The council’s chairman said the narratives being driven by political actors from both sides are weakening the basic commitment and submission to the Constitution and Laws of Kenya, which is the fabric that binds together as a nation.

“This situation, which cannot hold for long, especially in an environment where everyone feels they are right, requires immediate and deliberate efforts from the top m echelons of the country’s leadership to rescue the nation from further deterioration,” Naado said.

His sentiments come at a time when Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has called for demonstrations every Monday and Thursday against President William Ruto’s administration.

While appealing to the Muslim fraternity to use the holy month to refrain from acts and desires that disrupt peace in the society, Naado said Allah forbade the use of force against each other.

The SUPKEM boss said the most noticeable aspect of Ramadhan is fasting (swaum) and the people should seek guidance so that they can overcome the challenges facing people.

“Ramadhan is a time when Muslims are called upon to pursue piety through abstinence from lust desires and require one to perform good deeds while fasting teaches patience and perseverance,” he said.

Naado said that the Holy Prophet Muhammad said fasting is a shield that protects a person from sinful and lustful desires.

“As Muslims, we are taught to use this holy month to reiterate our commitment to peace between us and our creator, between us and our fellow human beings and between religions and communities,” Naado said.
