Ugenya MP David Ochieng' now claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga's Azimio camp harbours personal hatred against President William Ruto.

The leader of the Movement for Democracy and Growth party asked Raila to accept that Ruto is the president and work with him to fix the economy.

Speaking on Tuesday at Citizen TV, Ochieng' alleged that Raila's call for mass action is not genuine but deceptive to cripple the economy.

"What hurts me most is the personal hatred they have against the President.  They despise him and believe that he should not have won the election," Ochieng' said.

"That has to stop and appreciate that William Ruto is the president and work with him."

The MP's MDG party is in Ruto's Kenya Kwanza alliance despite having roots in Raila's Luo Nyanza backyard.

Raila has said he does not recognise Ruto as president and has called for Monday protests weekly to force the government to intervene and lower the cost of living.

The MDG boss said the opposition must get out of the streets and support the government's efforts to re-engineer the economy.

"This is the time to build the economy, and not the time to tell us how powerful you are," he said.

"I don't think it is right for the Azimio side to use their following to undermine and interfere with the process of trying to recover the economy."

The MP said Monday's demonstration was meant to harass business people in Nairobi.

"I’m sure the police were acting in the best interest of Kenyans. You cannot hold demonstrations and threaten to shut down and blackmail the country," he said.

Azimio on Monday held protests in Nairobi and some towns across the country as Raila commenced mass action against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
