Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has urged President William Ruto to consider having talks with Azimio Raila Odinga.

In a statement on Friday, Ngunyi said that he agrees with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja who said that nothing can't be solved when people sit and talk.

"Dear Ruto. You are uniting the country against yourself. Do not harden your heart and if you do, God will send a prophet to tell you to your face: "...Let my people go!". I agree with Sakaja. Search for a middle ground is what country needs," he said.

This is after Sakaja said the economy was bad enough and protests will further hurt Kenyans therefore leaders should talk.

“There is nothing that can't be sorted after talks... let's not plunge the country into a crisis. It is very easy to destroy but not build. The economy is tough and people are struggling and when we are picking up I think its time we talk and think of other ways because we are one country,” he said

However, he said that some leaders were misguiding the head of state not to reach out to the opposition.

“I'm glad that the president has a lot of wisdom and I'm sure he will do the right thing because yeye ndio baba yetu lazima atushikilie sisi sote,” Sakaja said.

However, Sakaja later denied claims that he called for a truce between Ruto and Raila.

He said that he asked for a discussion between the two leaders, as everyone should be heard.

"Not accurate. I have not asked for a handshake but a discussion. We have only one Kenya. No annex," he tweeted.

The Azimio brigade has been leading a series of rallies countrywide on the warm-up to March 20 mass action.
