Azimio leader Raila Odinga has told off deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent remarks that Kenya Kwanza allies have more shares in government.

Speaking in Narok on Saturday, Raila insisted that all Kenyans have shares in the government.

He said that everyone pays taxes, and they all have their shares in the government.

"I want to tell Gachagua every Kenyan has shares in government. All Kenyans pay taxes. When a woman buys salt, sugar, soda they pay tax," Raila said.
"I want to tell you (Gachagua) we will show you."

During a visit to Kericho, the DP had said they will prioritise those who backed their presidential bid when it comes to sharing opportunities in government.

He said it was laughable that some members of the opposition had started trooping to State House seeking government positions.

The DP said his role at State House is to ensure regions that backed them get development before those that did not.

"This government is a shares company. It has the owners who have majority shares, those with minority shares and those that don't have any shares," Gachagua said.

"You invested in this company owned by William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua you must harvest. You invested and your time to harvest is now... Even they (the opposition) will harvest, but they have to wait for you to finish harvesting.

Gachagua later clarified that the statement applied to the appointment of public servants and not developments.

He said the Kenya Kwanza government was going to serve all Kenyans equally, regardless of political affiliation.
