Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance elected leaders now say that Kenyan taxpayers don't pay President William Ruto and his administration to tell them what is wrong with the country.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, the leaders said Kenyans already know the excuses the current administration has been giving for failing to deliver on their promises.

"We do not pay Cabinet secretaries or Principal secretaries to tell us how bad things are. Kenyans know that already. We do not pay the government to tell us where and how things went wrong and who is responsible," they said.

"We do not pay this administration to supply us with morticians, deniers and revisionists which is what we seem to have."

The opposition legislators said when former president Mwai Kibaki took over power from the Moi regime, the situation was worse than it is now but he never gave excuses.

They said instead Kibaki gave a clear roadmap of how he would fix the economy by partnering with the private sector, and in three months, the difference could be felt across the country.

"There is no doubt the economy is in bad shape. But there is also no doubt that it is not worse than what the Rainbow Coalition inherited in 2002 and turned around in a matter of months."

The statement was signed by Senators Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), Enock Wambua (Kitui) and MPs Nabii Nabwera (Lugari), Anthony Oluoch (Mathare), Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga) and Jared Okelo (Nyando).
