Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo has regretted that the slow disbursement of funds by the government to constituencies will disadvantage students from poor families relying on bursaries.

The ODM lawmaker said his constituency has only received Sh30 million out of the Sh152 million that was allocated to the Kitutu Masaba NG-CDF kitty.

Gisairo said his NG-CDF administration had earmarked Sh51 million for the student bursaries in the 2022-23 financial year.

“What we have received so far is not even enough to cater for the bursaries as budgeted in the current financial year,” the MP said while addressing his constituents.

The MP said lawmakers will continue pushing the national government to release NG-CDF funds on time despite the challenges faced by the Treasury to raise the money.

“As your leaders, what we shall do is to push the national government to ensure that there are resources for our students on time even as we appreciate the difficulties in revenue generation,” he said.

The MP said he will partner with the MCAs to pool bursary funds to make sure that students receive reasonable amounts to mitigate parents suffering.

“Resource pooling is critical in social-economic progress in our constituency,” Gisairo said.

He said, under his vision for the constituency, he will direct the NG-CDF bursaries to tertiary institutions and students in forms three and four.

“No kid from a vulnerable family will stay out of school for lack of fees, MCAs will take up students in forms one and two,” he said.
