Azimio leader Raila Odinga will on  Wednesday hold his first prayer rally in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) as his political war against President William Ruto enters a defining stage.

The opposition chief will lead other opposition luminaries and a legion of supporters for the first time to the city CBD in what is feared might evolve into running battles with law enforces who have severally warned against disruption of businesses.

Inauguration of the  Nairobi Rivers Commission

 President William Ruto is set to launch the Nairobi River Commission on Wednesday at Korogocho in Nairobi.

It will also be attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who will oversee the commission's work.

The commission is part of Ruto's grand plan to clean up Nairobi city and restore it to its former glory. 

Increase of refugees

The World Health Organisation situational outlook estimates that the number of newly arrived refugees in Kenya is expected to increase to 121,300 by April 2023.

Currently, 571,000 refugees are living in the country.

Warrant of arrest against police

A Nairobi court has issued a warrant of arrest against three police officers who allegedly assaulted former Mlango Kubwa MCA Patriciah Mutheu at city hall in 2020.

The drama unfolded at the Nairobi County Assembly after a group of MCAs stormed City Hall seeking to file an impeachment notice against Speaker Beatrice Elachi.

The rowdy MCAs clashed with police officers who had been stationed at the assembly to prevent them from accessing the chambers.

Murder trial of the late MP Muchai

The murder trial of the late Kabete MP George Muchai proceeds today.

Muchai, his driver Stephen Wambugu and two bodyguards/ police constables Samwel Lekakeny and Samwel Kimathi, were killed on the morning of February 7, 2015, in Nairobi.

Those facing the murder charges are Eric Isabwa, alias chairman Raphael Kimani, alias Kim butcher; Mustapha Kimani, alias Musto; Stephen Astiva, alias Chokore; Jane Wanjiru, alias Shiro; Margaret Njeri and Simon Wambugu.
