US First Lady Jill Biden is expected to visit Kenya this week, between Wednesday, February 22 and Sunday, February 26.

According to a statement by the White House, the visit is aimed at strengthening the partnership between the United States and Africa.

It will also help advance the areas of mutual interest in the region.

Further, the White House said Jill's engagements will focus on the empowerment of women and youth and the efforts to address food insecurity.

According to CNN, the First Lady will arrive in Namibia on Wednesday.

She will then come to Kenya, where she aims to draw attention to the ongoing food crisis.

This will be Jill's third visit to Kenya and first to Namibia where she will also visit, making it the first trip by a senior US official to the country since 1996.

The last high-ranking US official to travel to Namibia was the 45th Vice President Al Gore, 27 years ago.

It will also mark her sixth trip to the continent.
