Nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has announced that she is contemplating quitting the social media platform Twitter.

Speaking on Thursday, the senator said the platform is full of bullies and she cannot stand the cyberbullying.

Orwoba added that the bullying is intense and it actually gets to her.

"In fact, I am really contemplating leaving Twitter. It's intense and it gets to you. I won't lie it gets to me and won't tell you I don't care," she said on Hot 96.

Orwoba said that she is human and ignoring all the criticism and ridicule is not possible.

On Tuesday, Orwoba faced the wrath of Twitter users after she went to parliament dressed in a white suit, with artificial colour to signify blood stains.

The Senator was advocating for free sanitary pads distribution through a motion, to girls who can't afford the basic items every menstrual cycle.

“This is the period stigma that is making our girls kill themselves," Senator Orwoba said.

"There is a girl who killed herself because of the same issue that I'm going through. And now I understand why. Because it is the women who are trying to make this thing a crime,” she said.

In her motion, Orwoba wants the Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action to facilitate the provision of feminine hygiene products in all public schools.

Further, she wants the Ministry to ensure all schools that do not have bathrooms that facilitate privacy, cleanliness or proper disposal of hygrine products are properly equipped.

“The Ministry should create awareness and take advocacy measures on reproductive health issues related to period poverty.
