Man denies personating cop, attempting to effect eviction

A man who allegedly posed as a police officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and attempted to evict security guards and staff from a building has been charged in court.

Daniel Kinyanjui Kimani was charged before Kibera Principal Magistrate Derrick Kuto but he denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused person allegedly committed the offense on February 1, 2023, at Kindaruma Mall on Kindaruma road in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Through his lawyer, Kimani urged the court to release him on lenient bond terms.

The prosecution led by Allan Mogere did not object to his bond plea.

The magistrate released him on a Sh100,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.

The court directed that the accused be supplied with witness statements that the prosecution intends to rely on during the trial.

The magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned on February 27.
