The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) now wants to extract CCTV footage of the estate around the home of former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.
The officers say they are investigating a case of robbery with violence and want the court to grant them orders to extract the CCTV footage from several security companies with CCTV in the estate.
They have since secured an order issued on February 10 compelling Amsec Security Services to give them footage of that night.
They also filed a new application on Tuesday seeking to compel Bob Morgan Security to also give them the footage.
In the application by Chief Inspector Eunice Njue, the DCI wants the court to also order the release of the footage.
“This court be pleaded to issue an order compelling the manager of Bob Morgan Security to allow DCI cyber forensic expert access and extract of CCTV footage for the period February 8 from 6 pm to February 9 midday captured by CCTV installed and controlled by the security firm,” the application reads
In the application, Njue says she is investigating a case of attempted robbery where on the morning of February 9 media reported that there was a purported raid in a residential house within the estate by unknown persons alleged to be police officers.
“Preliminary investigations have established that the said residential Karen Ngong view is covered by CCTV cameras manned by Bob Morgan and therefore there is a need to retrieve the same for evidential purposes,” reads court papers
The DCI officer says they are apprehensive that if the CCTV footage storage is not promptly secured, the crucial evidence might be lost and thus plunging investigations into jeopardy.
The police have also written a letter to the Karen Ngong View Estate Association requesting the CCTV footage from that night
